Where To Post - Website or Blog?

Now, hopefully you've taken time to sign up for each of the affiliate networks that were listed in our last post. If not, please take the time to do that.  By signing up with each affiliate network, you will know all that's available to you, and can gain a good idea of the products that you will feel most comfortable promoting.


After finding the programs that you believe will be most benificial to your internet business, you will now need somewhere to post your content.  In this post we will explain to you both the advantages and disadvantages of owning your own website or blog, so that you will be able to make the appropriate decision for your internet business.  We will be providing you with the different methods that you can use to promote your internet business with or without a website or blog, but we suggest you get at least one or the other in order for you to achieve even greater success online.

Website or Blog?  That's The Real Question

Website & Web Hosting - Having your own personal website and domain name can be extremely beneficial to your internet business for several reasons.  Not only will you be able to personalize your domain name a.k.a. web address or URL, so that it's easier for others to remember, but you will also be able to customize your web pages much more so than with any free blogging platform you may find.  With your own website, not only will you have multiple pages to post your content, but you will also be able to put more personal touches to your web pages, and make them much more user friendly.

Web Hosting usually runs anywhere from $5 - $15 per month.  This will depend on which web hosting provider you choose to host your business on, and how much space you believe you will need to post your content.  You will most likely have many different memory options with each web hosting service you will find, but unless you are planning on loading a huge number of videos and pictures (which isn't necessarily a bad idea), just a basic web hosting package should be sufficient.

Note: With the internet business I'm presenting to you, you will not need a ton storage space on your website because most of your data will be stored solely online through the affiliate networks you choose to join.  However, you may want to make it more personal than you will be allowed to with most blogs. 

Blog To Success - You can easily set up a free blog however, and with the right promotion tactics, achieve great success without having to pay monthly fees for web hosting.  Although you will not be able to personalize a blog like you can with your own website,  I have found this to be just as successful for the type of internet business that I run.  As long as you know how to drive qualified or targeted traffic to your site, you can get great results at absolutely no cost at all.

Introduction - What Is Affiliate Marketing?

As an affiliate marketer, you will simply be promoting products for different companies online for commissions.  These companies will pay you once the customer you "linked" to them completes the desired action the company requires.  Whether that's filling out a contact form, purchasing software, or downloading a free app . . .there are tons of unique affiliate programs that you will have the opportunity to make money with, regardless of your interests.

Note: If you don't understand all of the terminology right now . . .you will later on, once I go into more details.  For now, I ask that you just kick back and enjoy!

Most affiliate programs that you will be promoting will pay you by "percent of sale," or commission but many will pay you for "leads."  Most active affiliates know of the companies that pay you "percent of sale," but many don't know that there are affiliate programs out there that pay you for each lead you send to them. 

Trust me . . .you will want to know ALL that's available for you to work with.

Basics:  Please Understand

Before we start signing up with all of the affiliate networks, and the offers they provide, I really want you to understand something right off hand.  I believe that there is one main reason why people fail to be successful online, and one reason only . . . 

LACK OF KNOWLEDGE!

People tend to want to jump right into things . . .and start doing, before learning!  They start promoting products because others have been successful with them, but don't realize that the person who was successful with that product, understood it from the inside out.

This is what most people struggle with when first starting their affiliate marketing career.  They really don't know what to promote because they don't know all that's available to them.   Once you are seasoned to internet affiliate marketing, you will understand that the only way to ever truly be successful online, is by having a good understanding of the product you're promoting.

Note For Current Affiliates:  If you are currently promoting a product that you know little about . . .I would suggest that you either purchase the product for yourself so that you will have a complete knowledge of how it works, or just lay it down, and stop promoting it.  People are tired of getting involved with something that they think is one thing, and it turns out to be another.  Simply put . . .promote what your promoting!

Do your research, and once you have a good grasp of all that a program really offers, you will be able to decide if that's something that you want to invest your time and effort into or not.

Many of you may already know almost everything you need to know to begin promoting many of the affiliate programs that you will be coming across.  Trust me, there are thousands of products and programs you'll be able to choose from.  I'm sure you'll find something right up your alley!
